“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people. Today, in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:8-11
Friends, we are incredibly blessed to live in a nation founded on principles that allow us to speak and worship freely. So many have fought and died throughout the ages to have these rights. That is why, at this time of the year, I always reflect on the fact America is a special place, one seemingly guided by the hand of Providence.
As family and friends gather this time of year, I hope all of us, no matter what faith, take a moment to give thanks for that which has been bestowed to each of us in this free country.
On a personal note, let me also thank you for your support and the privilege of serving you in our State’s Capitol. In the new year, I hope to continue earning your trust and confidence as we move to make Tennessee a more prosperous and free State.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, from my family to yours.
