Secretary of State, Tre Hargett and myself met with private businesses in Wilson County with the focus on bringing jobs to our area. Several businesses we met were interested in expanding their work force here. I feel reassured to have one of our State’s Constitutional Officers show such an interest in our county. First stop at the Lebanon Senior Citizens Center; visiting with all seniors and signing Blue Books. Our own Mayors, Philip Craighead and Randall Hutto were there to welcome him. Next stop a tour of the Lebanon Police Department, with Chief Scott Bowen. Next stop was Shenandoah Mills with a brief tour, and then the Chamber of Commerce to speak to the Economic Development Committee. The Lebanon Rotary Club welcomed Secretary Hargett as he spoke to the Lebanon Rotarians. Next stop Watertown at the Depot Junction Cafe as he visited with Mayor Mike Jennings, Chamber members, city officials, pastors, school employees and constituents. The afternoon was filled with many stops of businesses that is desiring new growth. Next stop was Cumberland University to speak to faculty and students at Labry Hall. Thanks to Dr. Bill Mckee for making this possible. Last stop was the Roxie Theater for dinner and the movie “National Treasure”.
