Speculation Rising of Deal Reached on Medicaid Expansion

Governor Bill Haslam has scheduled a news conference today amid speculation that he will announce a tentative agreement with the Obama administration on an alternative Medicaid expansion plan for Tennessee.   Haslam has been in negotiations with key figures in President Obama’s administration for nearly 2 years over his efforts to develop a hybrid plan for using federal funding to buy private health insurance coverage for 160,000 working poor Tennesseans, as an alternative to expansion of the state’s Medicaid/TennCare program under the provision of the Affordable Care Act.
